Sushi & Soul Wednesday 2/16/22

Last week’s Sushi & Soul (on 2/16/22), which was co-sponsored by JLIC at Rutgers and Chabad RA Max Lightman, focused on the topic of sexual abuse. The program was introduced by Rutgers University CAPS therapist, Aliza Lasky, and followed by a conversation on the topic, led by Rav Shaya Shagalow and Rav Avi Schwartz. Rav Shaya began the event by sharing stories and statistics regarding this worldwide issue that exists no matter someone’s background. Rav Avi picked up by sharing some halachic perspectives on the issue as well as reflected on the recent horrors revealed regarding the late Chaim Walder. Rav Avi also shared some professional guidance as a licensed therapist. It was an incredibly important and meaningful event. Of course, the program also included the traditional sushi rolling and socializing that the students look forward to every Wednesday at 8pm!
